You guys have nothing to complain about, the U.K is getting China-style censorship.

How would you define "esoteric material".

You don't have to install the filters? So what the big deal?

Shouldn't exist in the first place.

Yeah, this is garbage. No matter how you spin it, it's not to "protect intellectual property rights" outside of big publishers that shouldn't have that kind of leverage anyway.

Yea I can't possibly imagine why anyone on the planet could possibly want an optional tool to block pornography and violent content from being viewed on their computer. Nope, none whatsoever.

This is why corporate lobbying should be illegal from American Politics. I believe a politician's job is to serve their constituents not Multi-Billion dollar media moguls best interest.

Obama stated many times that he wanted the ability to take control of the internet, before he was elected.

Corporate lobbying has nothing to do with his views. What really irritates me is people who voted for him without knowing anything about him, and now they're all complaining because he's doing exactly what he said he was going to do.

I won't be surprised if this version of SOPA passes given that 1) congress is ****** insane and can still manage to pass stupid laws and 2) that the demographic that elects these dumbasses into Congress won't change.

The problem is people don't know how to balance.

Corporations need protection from the idiots of the public just as much as the idiots of the public need protection from corporations.

America has fostered a culture of one way is the right way and extremist measures is what you get.

the filters are installed by default and the only way to remove them is to call your ISP and say "Hey, i want my porn"

Optional tools already exist.
