Is this about porn or music? I'm confused? Most non-amateur porn is illegal because it's ripped from some DVD or site. I don't they're trying to block amateur non-copyright porn. So the porn guys can stop worrying about that unless they really need to see their favorite stars screw.

If this is about music..oh well. Maybe this will force artist to be more in touch with their fan base. They'll gets millions of emails from fans asking can they cover their songs on YouTube or whatever other video hosting site. Maybe music will benefit from it. The artist who get the least messages all probably realize their music sucks.

I don't see what the big deal is, this article doesn't accurately explain what everyone is crying about and no one in this topic is explaining it either. All the arguments are irrelevant without an equal understanding of what the problem is.

They're basically trying to make it illegal to record covers of copyrighted songs and put them on youtube.

How would you define "esoteric material".

It means religion, pseudoscience and "new age" stuff here. There are a few other topics that might deal with the concept but have virtually no "audience" at all and blocking them would be pretty pointless.

I've seen a lot of ads to astrology sites and psychic services so maybe someone wants to block those or try to prevent themselves or their children from getting exposed to religious propaganda.

There is not much possibility to use that wording "maliciously" however. Though it is quite extreme/tricky in the first place and from what I've seen the word isn't often used "lightly" because it is a complicated concept.

I'm actually looking at the green paper that the Internet Policy Task Force published, and I don't see at all where this is coming from. Seems more likely that this is the Internet misconstruing things, knowing full well that people like you will endlessly repeat it without bothering to check your facts, eventually making it become "fact."

Just a shame how many people in this country were stupid enough to actually vote for him... Twice!

Compared to the other moron that was trotted out by the repubs can you blame most people?

Its a gateway swastika. Feds would love a stronger and accepted legal foundation to control an uncontrolled and super effective! news medium. This way the next HP article you read about the Obama admin is just how tall dark and handsome he is and ho so gallant he is in providing all the school children with mandatory vaccines against terrorists and threats to our freedom living lives such as flying swine flu. Pigs learned to fly...we'z all gonna die. Be afraid. Very afraid. We will remind you to be every 5 minutes in your programming broadcast. That is unless some large pharmaceutical contracts happen.

The content trolls are a nice front man and have never been ones to turn down any chance to set up a toll booth.

Honestly, this.

McCain was doomed because of Bush...and Romney was...Romney. Even then, he might've won, had he picked a more moderate VP.

McCain would have done himself a big favor by distancing himself from Bush (and, like Romney, not having a complete dingbat for a running mate).

And I'm not really inclined to think that either McCain or Romney would oppose any pro-corporate policy that Obama would support.

Or maybe it'll end up being nothing.

Just being optimistic here, but don't most issues like this end up being nothing?
