Can you play together? Steam <-> Origin

For example I have the Steam version of Medal of Honor. Can I play with someone who has the Origin version or are there separate servers?

EA owns origin.

Valve owns steam.

No.

I was under the impression that you still connected to Origin's servers because you still need to sign in with and Origin account??? The same way you would on Xbox 360.

This is wrong (or sarcastic). You will find the same EA servers on either version.

I think there's only one EA game that won't let steam owners play with Origin owners. I think it was one of their racing games, and they had never pushed the latest patch through Steam, so they were running different versions.

Once we perfect building Mechs, I expect there to be a factory in Mexico pumping out a brand call Mechsican. I wanna buy me a Mechsican.

Yeah, in most cases, it's the same game regardless of where it was purchased/downloaded, and you'll see the same servers either way.

But, there are a few f*** ups...er, I mean exceptions; Where a game was patched separately on Origin than Steam, and thus breaking online compatibility. Need For Speed: Shift 2 was a prime example of this.

I can confirm that Burnout and Crysis 2 work together no matter if you're on Steam or Origin. Although there are definitely some screw-ups here and there with other games.

That could possibly be Shift 2 Unleashed. The DLC and patch were only available through Origin, not on Steam.
