Is it possible to get a refund for a game?

Sounds like user error.

I've always heard that steam gives you one refund no questions asked. I've had it confirmed a lot of times and heard numerous accounts of it being true, so you should be able to just talk to steam customer support and get a refund unless I've been the victim of a very persistent urban legend.

It has happened, but there is no hard rule about it. If you do get a refund, they generally only give you one, but there is no "one refund no questions asked" policy.

Yeah I'd agree with this. TC, if you're dead set on getting your money back, I'd suggest you file a refund request with them but be as nice about it as possible. State your case, but be civil about it. Just tell them you've had nothing but bad luck and have never asked for a refund before, etc. Then just hope they're nice enough to do it. But if they don't, don't blast them in return because maybe they will if you ask again later for a different game.

tl;dr - They don't have to, but they might if you're cool about it.

Yeah, I put a request in. I'm not going to waste any more time trying to get the game to work: either they give me a refund or I'm out 12 bucks. Either way, I wash my hands of this game.

I still don't get why you had to register and I didn't.

I dunno, maybe that was part of an update they did or something. It wouldn't let me play until I signed up for the Square Enix website.

I'll admit I'm kinda surprised he didn't respond. I assumed his message was intended entirely to troll me and that he'd continue to try to annoy me, but maybe it was just a mistaken post because he didn't completely read my post/didn't understand what I was saying.
