Got around to playing Dead Island [backlog]. After 20-25 mins=what the .....

What the hell is up with with the FOV! No option for it is just fail. I'm pretty sure there is someway to modify a config file or something. Now The Darkness II had some FOV issues [couldn't change it], but I didn't have a big probably playing that game. Dead Island literally makes me sick and dizzy. I've never played a game that made me feel that way literally. I'm guessing the FOV in Dead Island is around 50-60 maybe?

Voice acting is laughable and just isn't that good. Animations are subpar. It appears this game is based around doing tons of things for others. "Go do this for 800XP"....OK! All of these muscular males and I'm the only person that is going on these missions. The combat isn't the worse thing ever, but the FOV just ruins everything for me. I guess I'll have to take a break every 15-20 minutes or so. Does the game get any better than this? If not I'm probably just going to stop playing it all together.

Pretty sure you could change the FOV in Darkness 2.

And no the entire game is terrible and literally exactly what you've already did, except forever

IIRC you couldn't when it first came out.

I remember Total Biscuit talking about it in a video- might have been the first one though.

Well I just launched it and it does indeed have it. So either it was patched in (I had the game at launch, but can't remember) or you're thinking of the first one which probably didn't.

I haven't played Darkness II in awhile, but there was NO option. Maybe 2K patched it months after released. Still I managed to play that game with little issues. Even thought the FOV was bad it didn't make me feel dizzy or anything like that.

Well it looks like this game isn't even worth playing. Is there really any straight storyline? Just do this and do that until you meet more people? Sort of like a platforming game with no story. I'm guessing that room is going to be the "hub" for receiving orders. I've saved\met one guy who was afraid in a truck. After leaving the area the guy body just disappeared after stepping out and coming back. I didn't have to take him back to the "hub" room or anything. So I'm guessing realism in the storyline is just out of the window. The combat has this hack and slash feel to it. RPG like actually. Also the money is just hilarious. Who would even search one of those zombies for anything unless there is gun or weapon.

I mean I guess there's kind of a story if you want to call it that, but it's essentially non-existent and terrible. The entire game is just going to X central location and repeating thousands of the exact same "quest" for no real purpose.

I think I'll pass, but thanks. I don't really see this game getting much better. I've heard some negative and good things about the game in the past. Thought I'd try it out, but it seems very shallow and repetitive after such a short while of playing.

Damn that sucks. Not even for the purpose of making it out alive? The combat has this hack and slash feel to it. RPG-like gameplay. Also the money is just hilarious. So expensive and why do I have to pay MONEY to fix\repair\upgrade my own items with no one around to charge me. That's just dumb....forced RPG elements. I do like Zombie games like L4D and Dead Rising etc. I'm guessing these devs were just cashing in on the Zombie fanatics. I actually went to YouTube and watched the ending......the voices do not match some of the characters at all lol. Not even close. Also the main character was shooting at men with guns and then there were some infected muscular military zombies rushing the player. Then they left. I don't think I've pretty much just given up on the game.

I haven't encountered any bugs yet, but I don't plan to either. I'm not going to continue playing.
