Have you ever worked at a gamestop?

Have you ever worked at a gamestop?

If you have, any feelings on it?
I am currently looking to make some extra spending cash on the weekends/nights and considering getting a part time job at GS.

I've worked retail, way back in the day, I don't imagine it would be more different than that.
Make sales (pre-orders/"Pro" Cards), work with grumpy customers, deal with a DM that could be a pain.

Working as IT where I have to make stops doing repairs with random people at this company on a daily basis, you get to know how to work with the crazys, and if I end up not liking it I could always leave.

However I am curious to hear feedback from people that's worked there before.

Thanks,

Have fun getting paid with a debit card where they charge you fees everytime you use it.

Gamefaqs game rating system : 10 = Best Game Ever. 8-9. Crushing dissapointment. Below 8 :Total Garbage. This is getting ridiculous. people agreeing so far 105

Or, you know, set up automatic deposit.

TC, I did a while back and it was a lot of fun--but its very dependent on the group you work with and customers. I wouldn't suggest it as corporate seems even worse with preorders than when I was there. But if you know the employees and get along with them, its worth a shot.

Probably one of the crappier companies I've ever worked for. I've never worked as a "grunt" there, I was in management the entire time. It's a really poor environment, in terms of how they treat employees as numbers rather than actual people. It's somewhat dependent on your district, but if you have a DM who focuses on numbers over everything else, turnover rates can be really bad because employees who can't sell will either get fired or quit. It doesn't matter how good their customer service is, only their numbers.

If they have a store that does really well, they'll ship the ASM to another store to try to replicate the success, so districts will change all their ASMs around every few months, which destroys any kind of teamwork or synergy.

If you can disassociate yourself from all the pressure and drama, it might be fun.

Terrible store. There are some decent ones out there, I'm sure, but I've never had a good experience there. Lots of shady practices have turned me away from them for good. I avoid it like the plague.
