Having problems with NVIDIA drivers above 314.22.

#1GimmedollarPosted 8/19/2013 8:10:47 PM
Anytime I update my drivers past 314.22 my PC will randomly lock up and then go back to normal or sometimes restart. I also experience a few display driver crashes, but none of this occurs with any driver 314 or below. Any ideas on what could be the problem?

Your card might be bad. Nvidia tries to squeeze more and more performance out of cards on the software level as time goes on and your card may not be able to keep up. I haven't had this problem personally but several people on these boards have.

abit bad driver programming after 314.22 but this driver isnt perfect and shares abit of graphical glitches with crysis 3.

try 326.58

If you still have lock-ups then use a driver cleaner.

Install Driver Sweeper, uninstall the driver, boot into safe mode, run Driver Sweeper and remove any residual drivers, boot into normal mode, install the drivers.

I had the same problem did all of that. It also help I took the heatsink off of the video card and put new thermal compound on it. Now my temps are a lot lower. That might help also. What video card do you have? I have a 560 ti. I was just wondering.

I'm running a GTX 460 and my temps never go above 54C, so I don't think it's overheating. I'll do the Driver Sweep and see what happens.

I have a 560 and the same thing happen to me, and it was always while I used firefox. I rolled back to 314 and the problems disappear.

I am now using the latest drivers 320.49 and it have had a few glitches, but never again it froze or crash. I'm keeping my eye on the temps just in case, they they stay at 35-37 when idle.

DO NOT USE Driver Sweeper. It does more harm than good.
