Sims 4?

i It looks like I'm in the minority, but Sims 3 trumps the first two games by miles. Everything I was annoyed with in Sims and Sims 2 were abolished/redone in Sims 3. Not having car animations is a silly comment to make, IMO, when the rest of the game is so good.

You not alone. Sims 3 was an upgrade, just like it should of been.

I'm sure player made content will not be like it was for Sims 2 so unless there are some serious gameplay improvements I won't be bothering.

The game is so unbalanced that there are practically no meaningful rewards or progress. I'm willing to overlook a lot and I'm completely fine if "powergaming" would destroy meaningful progress but right now it's just impossible to play satisfyingly. In Sims 2 you had to manage your sims a bit and perhaps even plan a little even though exploiting/powergaming removed the need for management. In Sims 3 you just grind a bit and take whatever badly implemented rewards you earn. I'd love if Sims 4 made managing the life of your sims a bit more interesting. Sims in The Sims 3 are just so superhuman that playing the actual game isn't interesting anymore..

Sound like you need to go back to playing Sims 1. Sims 2 was a step away from that direction and Sims 3 was an even more jump away. I don't expect or even want Sims 4 to revert back to Sims 1.

Go play Sims 1, you should have fun spending 90% of your time worrying about micromanaging bladder and sleep.

I was mostly happy with Sims 3 apart from the terrible optimization issues.

No reason for the game to run like a pig on my system.

If they get that stuff sorted, I'm all for Sims 4.

I don't necessarily want to micromanage sleep & bladder but I would like to see some gameplay. Right now most of the mechanics are so broken they could almost as well not be there.

The mood score system for example is very broken, uninteresting and doesn't really serve any purpose well. You are supposed to get moodlets as consequences of your actions and rewards for high mood & penalties for low mood but this system is so broken and unbalanced that the mechanic becomes almost useless. A Great Date sounds like something that would be significant in your sims life and impact it somehow but the consequence for that action is a handful of the next-to-useless mood points for a few hours for example. Of course you can RP & "fill in the blanks" even if everything isn't represented in-game but right now the gameplay is so wonky and "disconnected" that playing the game feels pretty pointless. Having a friend isn't very interesting if the way you get friends is by walking up to a random person on the street and queuing the talk action 10 times and so on.

When will they make a Sims game that isn't for 10 year olds? More depth and options for murder, please.

I know all sims fans would love it if the franchise grew up with us... but honestly sims is a teen franchise so it will never have mature content.

I know at my age, I'd love it if the sims 4 looked less cartoon, but its either grow up and leave the sims behind and move on to gta 5 or stay.

You are right there. It makes me sad that they teen-ified Spore too. So much wasted potential.
