Anyone use an extra-wide (cinema style) monitor?

I've only seen these enter the market (with affordable prices) this year, and of the few I've seen they have mostly equal quality I think. This is one I'm looking at:

Can most video cards handle this resolution? I've read that some of these monitors trick your PC into thinking it's running dual monitors, probably to make it more adaptable. Is it worth the price to get one of them compared to two sub-$200 monitors, because for me they would be very good for racing games and RTS, not to mention coding work.

"Higher DPI twitch shooters (like the COD games) give me a little bit of input lag, but not enough to get frustrated over."

you heard it here first kids. call of duty has higher dots per inch than battlefield 3.

I bought this 2 weeks ago and returned it just to go for 3 24" displays.

but for me, the only reason I opted for 3 displays is because this ultra wide was incredibly small. it literally has less than 12" of vertical screen space.

I'm cool with that. My current monitor is only 20" and 900p making it shorter. 3 displays would take too much room on my desk, anyways. The super-wide monitor would be almost as long as the area of the desk it sits on.

Most modern games and all modern video cards can handle that.

I had the Dell 21:9 for about a week. It was wonderful, but it had a defect so I sent it back.
