A friend and I are interested in purchasing our first gaming computers.

I should be clear right out of the gate -- we are not currently interested in building our own computers nor having extreme hardware. That stuff doesn't matter to us right now. The future can hold those wonders.

Right now, I'm eyeing a few "gaming" computers on Newegg. Most particularly, this one:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883258021R

Obviously its cheap price is what draws me in. As for the graphics card, I've seen gameplay of someone using it to play BF3 on ultra with solid FPS (obviously he had a far more superior processor, hard drive, etc.) so I hope it would be able to handle some stuff. In addition, I've read a lot of good things about it being able to run many modern games in the "high" region. I know it's definitely not a high-end card by any means, but again, we aren't exactly looking for that.

Being that we've never done this, we'd like to know if this would be a good "starter" gaming computer. We'd be pretty damn content if it could do as much as run BF3 (and subsequently BF4) on medium with decent FPS. The big thing I need to know about is the processor and whatever other parts are highly important and how well they complement each other.

Thanks for reading, and I thank you in advance for any advice you can give us.

A GT 640? I would like to see this video, actually.

Its the only place where you won't get royally screwed on price. You'd still be better off building yourself though.

You can YouTube it and actually get a few results. As for budgets, mine is approximately 800 dollars (however, that would include the monitor, so deduct like 120-150 for the actual computer) and his is around 500.

To get anything decent on there, we'd be breaking budget.

People on YouTube run games on ultra at 15-20 FPS and think it's the most amazing thing ever. >_>

15fps is best FPS.

So, can anyone take a look at the computer in the OP and say whether or not it's a piece of junk?

It is a piece of junk. That's why is so cheap.

You CAN play, is just that you CAN'T play with high settings and a good frame rate.

For that price, that computer doesn't actually seem that bad. Just know that you'll probably want a stronger video card than a 640 for gaming.

Link me your specific video. The benchmarks I see have BF3 at 1080p on low at ~30 FPS.
