How do you get rid of old computer parts?

When you guys upgrade your computers do you sell your previous components at all or keep them? I am interested to see how people handle their old components since I'm thinking about upgrading to a new GPU soon and a new cpu/mobo just a little later.

If its worth anything substantial I sell it (just sold my 7870 when I got my 770) or I give to friends/family, If those options fail throw them out.

Where do you sell them at? Like at a store that will give you some sort of credit for giving them parts you don't need or just like eBay?

Ebay normally, Although I've used a store here in the UK called Cex (you can check what price you'll get online before you go) obviously doing that saves shipping.

I have boxes upon boxes of obsolete parts that I am too lazy to take to whatever recycling facility I'd have to go to. Anything worth more than $20 I get rid of unless there's a chance I could use it some time in the future.

I usually use them as passdown parts for me parents computers. Since I'm the one who gets to take care of their old parts though, that's the tough call. A lot of times they just sit around since I know I'm not supposed to just throw that stuff away...bad for the environment and all. I've also heard places charge you to e-cycle that stuff and of course I'm not paying someone to take my trash.

So, it's a tough call. I work for Adobe now though, so they probably have some sort of bin I can throw stuff in the next time I need to.

I sell them on eBay or Craigslist, occasionally keep them as backups if they're worth less than $20. Or I give them away with stuff I sell if I absolutely don't need it and it's not worth much.

I sellthe ones worth more than $20, but I save up the other stuff with metal in it and salvage it. It is a bit of work to seperate the metal though.
