Whatever happened to the Valve SteamBox

It was announced back at GDC in March iirc and since then we haven't heard jack squat. I was wondering because as someone who definitely could not build a pc, even if i could afford one, I feel like this could be a good option for me to finally be able to play games via steam.

Valve is pretty bad at keeping the public informed about ongoing projects.

I don't recall the SteamBox ever being anything more than a rumor.

I'd rather have a company keep their focus on making quality games vs a company who hypes it forever and makes a pile of crap.

Out of all the Valve games I've ever played I can't think of one I dislike.

I'll take that over knowing every step they make any day.

Bungie and Rockstar both have similar approaches.

Same here. I didn't think they actually made an official announcement about it at all.

I wasn't complaining, just stating a fact.

It's because they have no shareholders to report to, that we get very little information.

Theres no logical reason why they would release it before Source2 engine comes into play / the newest Valve game to show it off and be a system seller.

The day you see the official Steam Box is the day HL3 is confirmed.

People talked about it more than 3 times so they killed it.
