Is it Better to Convert more than One Song at a Time, or just One?

When converting songs from any format to any format (just general speaking), is it better to convert only one song at a time, or multiple?
If multiple, how many?

I usually have done one at a time.
However, just now I decided to try converting 8 songs at once and wow. My Core i7-2600 converted 18 songs in 14 seconds.
I tried it again with 1 song at a time, and it took a whole minute..

So, do you guys have experience with these kind of things?
Karma... Is a powerful force..

It shouldn't make any difference whatsoever.

I convert whole albums with dBpoweramp and have had no problems.

As many as possible, all at once is how I go.
Your operating system can handle the thread management.

I wrote a program last year that was mostly just to search, locate and distribute files across networks. It spawns a thread for every file.
Load 1000 files, it makes 1000 threads and queues them up.
And it works really fast this way, properly using your computers potential.
