I recently downloaded the trial for War of the Roses. I'm enjoying it even though I find it's a little clunky and was thinking about buying the full game. Then I started watching a couple vids of Chivalry: Medieval Warfare. Now I can't decide which one to get. I wish there was some sort of trial for Chivalry.

I'm looking for some opinions on both of these games. Particularly, what is the hit detection like in Chivalry compared to War of the Roses? What are your general opinions on either game? Which has better controls, polish, community etc.

Chivalry.

WotR is horribly balanced, and only two or three weapons can actually kill anything.

Chivalry, but please please be prepared to get mad for your first games. It has a bit of a learning curve, but once you get into it, it has truly skillful and fun combat.

Everything can kill in Roses if you know how to use them, don't let overwhelming 2h spam get to you
If you like it in the free version, why not? Vikings is gonna be so much better already though @_@

Thanks guys. Looks like I've got a bit to consider still. I'd like to learn more about this Vikings game.

Chivalry is better balanced and has most things unlocked early on whereas WoR has you progressively level up and has more of a progression system ie working your way up from a lowly foot soldier to a full knight on horseback. So if you prefer a game with leveling and the constant carrot dangling in front of you get WoR. In all fairness if you dont have mount and blade yet grab it as it is lots of fun and has lots of mods which add new campaigns (i even saw a game of thrones 1).
