Chivalry or War of the Roses?

Chivalry is better balanced and has most things unlocked early on whereas WoR has you progressively level up and has more of a progression system ie working your way up from a lowly foot soldier to a full knight on horseback. So if you prefer a game with leveling and the constant carrot dangling in front of you get WoR. In all fairness if you dont have mount and blade yet grab it as it is lots of fun and has lots of mods which add new campaigns (i even saw a game of thrones 1).

If I were to get Mount & Blade Warband would it be alright to get just go with the base game? Not sure I want to spend $35 on the full package. The base game is just $20.

I would just get Warband. M&B vanilla is only worth it if you want some mods that were never ported over to warband, and Fire & Swork kinda sucks. it's like $5 on sale though, you could hold out. But it's definitely worth $20

I'd get at least diplomacy mod for WB; adds a few nice perks/improvements. Floris has it built in, but it also has a ton of other enhancements and I dunno if you'd want to cu your teeth on an almost vanilla game first or not.

Then after a hundred or so hours, you can look at the bigger full conversion mods like Brytenwalda and Prophecy of Pendor @_@

War of the Vikings is the next game Fatshark is working on, I think you can still apply to get in alpha! my http://signup.warofthevikings.com

Thanks for the info :) I'm thinking I might just get all of these games (Warband, Chivalry and War of the Roses) and I signed up for the Vikings alpha as well.

M&B is the reason I kept away from such games, thinking it was all -that- bad. Still amazed it gets recommended.

So far I think War of the Vikings is better. But it could be that i'm just so sour over 5 dollar helmets.

Mount and Blade Warband

But if you have to choose between the 2 then I must say that Chivalry is great and I had fun. To think I am someone who doesn't play much multiplayer.

As much as possible get Warband. By all means get it and do yourself a favour and play a very epic game!!

Glad I noticed this topic, because I wasn't aware that War of the Roses was free to play. I'm downloading it now.

re. Warband. I would definitely recommend it. I'm racked up 640 hours on it now, online and off. I would just get Warband itself the enxt time it's on sale. Plenty of mods. available. I wouldn't bother buying With Fire and Sword, but I do like the Napoleonic Wars DLC. Try the main game first, though.

Chivalry. The combat is a lot more polished than either M&B or War of the Roses.
