on a generation basis, does PC have a larger library than consoles do?

I already have a PC for everything up to gen 7 games.

In order to upgrade to Gen 8 I'd need to buy a whole new PC which would set me back about 800 dollars.

Wondering if it is really worth it or if I should just get consoles.

So the question is, does the PC platform per generation typically have more games?

The majority of next gen games are getting a PC port, even for release titles which are generally exclusives.

Couldn't you use parts in your current build in the new one?

Anyways, usually there around the same amount of games if not more games due to lower barriers of entry on PC. If you are looking for AAA games nowadays most are ported to PC. console exclusives are subjective in quality and it depends if it is worth it to get consoles for them.

In all fairness, PC has WAY more worthless and extremely low budget games.

Overall yes, but it might be better to look at how much PC offers for the genres you like. Also like the other dude said, why not reuse some parts?

I did my research ahead of time, there are no salvageable parts.

Any parts I reuse, including the motherboard, would just bottleneck.

And my HDD is 5200rpm. It's ridiculously slow.
