How will FF14 win? Doesn't that game require a subscription? With all the money Square had to dump into making the game over after its first launch failed there is no way that will be possible.

Doesn't matter. People will play it. FFXI still has a lot of active subscribers and came out before WoW. It survived, when all the other MMOs had to F2P. FF14 looks very polished, and is getting positive feedback from the community. This is just my experience, but everyone whom I played with on beta stated they would subscribe. FF lore is also amongst the greatest, so that helps a lot.

Both will fail.

And XIV is set to have a crap ton of purchasable stuff. SE is the EA of the East. Don't kid yourself.

Eagerly awaiting FFXIV's inevitable failure. Even a fantastic game cannot withstand initial bad press & the long-dead MMO format. Sad but true.

TESO will crash hard. The game is way too generic and doesn't have any aspects that stand out. I took a look at the Beta preview and it's just bound to fail. Obvious cash grab.

character fun items and services you can buy as a renaming of the character.

Oh, so just like World of Warcraft? If anything, criticize it for taking that concept from WoW because it most certainly is not an original idea made up by Zenimax Online.

Also, I love how you have to post your angry opinion on a forum to try and feel better about yourself.

WoW can pretty much do whatever it wants because it's the king of the MMO world, whether you like it or not. People aren't going to leave their level 90s to go play some game that, so far, just looks like a clone of WoW, but without a decade's worth of content and development behind it.

Point is, just because Blizzard can do it successfully doesn't mean Zenimax can. The game is already getting pretty lukewarm reception; it's hard to find people who are really enthusiastic about how it's turning out. Even hardcore TES fans are upset about it. Consensus seems to be that it's the new TOR-tanic.

FFXIV ARR, in contrast, is turning out to be a pleasant surprise. It isn't even doing anything new, but it's doing it right.

I spit in any MMO that is buy2play plus monthly fee. The dumbest thing

No, dude. The first month is "free."

That $50-60 was just a figment of your imagination.

Disagree. The japanese crowd will keep FFXIV afloat if nothing else, and on the PS3 there is very little in the way of traditional MMOs. So a lot of PS3 players will be sticking around too. All they have is DCUO and a handful of FPS MMOs.

Thank you. I don't understand why you have to buy the initial product if you have to pay monthly sub. Why would I pay $25-$45 for a disk/to download a client?
