Keyboard recommendations?

I've been using this crappy no-name "stock" keyboard for a couple of years. Looking to get a new one.

There is a problem with it though. If you hold too many keys at once, you get a Windows bleep sound and are unable to hold those keys all at once. I've heard this is due to a hardware limitation. You can see how this can be a problem if you're playing an FPS game for example and want to strafe, walk, and move backward all at the same time.

The recommendation doesn't neccesarily have to be a gaming keyboard or something fancy, unless is that the only type of keyboard that can bypass the hardware limitation?

one of it's most advertised features is that you can press any combination of keys.

It depends on your budget but you should look into getting a mechanical keyboard.

I have this keyboard (Sidewinder X4) and I love it. 20KRO so you'll NEVER run into key limits when doing a bunch of things at once, recessed macro keys, optional backlighting if you're into that kinda thing, and the keys aren't tooooo mushy as far as rubber dome keyboards go.

I would never get a Logitech G-Keyboard because their build quality is crap, keys are extremely mushy, risers do a terrible job of raising the back of the keyboard, and the drivers were shoddy during the week when I had my G510 before I returned it though that may have been resolved (at the time, I had to roll back to 3-month-old drivers because the most recent drivers had a widely-known but never-resolved issue with the LCD).

If you're gonna go mechanical, just make sure you don't get the original batch of Black Widow / Black Widow Ultimate keyboards, which did NOT have NKRO. You might still end up hitting too many keys at once on those keyboards and run into some kinda limit. No fun.

Yeah, the Sidewinder X4 looks good to me.

Gonna see if my local Best Buy / whatever has it.
