I'm interested in modding games.

So no one knows of an online community that discusses modding?

like i said, rarely are people interested in general modding

they know the game they want to mod, they goto that game's mod forum

and learn the tools, assets and scripting languages used for that particular game.

most of the best mods ever made were by expert, veteran gamers of said game who became modders because of it

not by people like you after a general site with no idea what they want lol

I'm sure those people started somewhere.

Is this guy serious? You think there's some "game mod" tool to just make "stuff" for everything?

ITT: Very smart person

yeah, in the relevant gaming communities.

i've read countless interviews with modders, their formal education and coding expertise is extremely limited. some are bums.

it seems it's more about passion/dedication/talent.

not sure if you're a troll or just not all that bright?

How is asking others on a general PC forum for information about modding in general, asking others about sources or communities that might exist for these purposes make me "not all that bright"?

You answered my questions perfectly and you gave the answers that I was looking for. You were rude about it, and insulted my intelligence but I shouldn't really expect better of people on GameFAQs.

Either way, thanks for the help that you did give, but try working on being kinder. There's nothing wrong with asking questions.

Thanks to you, I now know that modding is generally game specific. And no, that's not something everyone with a computer is born knowing, forgive my lack of knowledge, but what else is the purpose of communicating with like minds on a forum? I think it's to gain knowledge and discuss things.
