I have two GTX660 2gb in SLI with 1440p and it works flawlessly, despite only 2gb.

I believe you, but this is mostly about gaming reasonably for the next 2-3 years, and not the present (with the exception of Skyrim using 2-3gb of VRAM now.)

the 760 makes the 770 look lame for the $

the 7950 CF is the best deal

No kidding the 780 is nice, but it's also $200 more. Not a good price/performance gain IMO.

The 760 is a great deal, especially if you game on one 1080p monitor. I know it's a great deal because I bought one! However, it can't handle Skyrim modded @1440p right now, and with the upcoming games coming out based on the PS4/XB1 development, I think it's likely we are going to see more and more games exceed 2gb of VRAM.

I looked at the 7970, and the performance is comparable to a 770 (No matter who won in the benchmarks, it was always within about 2fps.) However, looking forward, there are major issues with Crossfire right now, so if I wanted to do that in the future, I'd be gambling that ATI had ironed out those problems. We already know that SLI works pretty well, so a second 4gb 770 was a safer option in my book.
