Why is their no double ended USB cable to let you connect two computers together

Topic. It seems pretty easy to make a USB cable with two male ends so you can drag and drop files directly between two computers, use one to scan another etc yet the technology is apparently completely unheard of, is there some reason for this, or does this cable exist and I just don't know it?

I have one of those cables. It's not unheard of. They used to sell them at Walmart.

It's called an easy transfer cable. They always have some kind of block in the middle, at least all the ones I've seen. They're kinda useless though, you could just use an Ethernet cable and get 10x the speed, if not more.

Really? Maybe it's like those USB On the Go cables that let you hook a flash drive up to phones and tablets that nobody knows about, I finally found one and had to special order it from China, but almost nobody ever knows about those when I talk about being able to use a flash drive with my Nexus 7

Unless I'm missing something transferring hundreds of gigs of files over a wifi network would suck something fierce, and there's no way to scan another computer over a network.

Huh didn't think about an ethernet cable, thought he meant that wireless file sharing thing you can do between comps

It takes a little setup either way but both ways work. Not sure exactly what it takes to get it working with the USB cable since I've never owned one but the ones I saw came with a disc so I'm assuming it wasn't just plug and play.
