how long do builds last before a needed upgrade?

I'm planning to get a gaming rig, but I want it to last me a while, about 3-4 years.

this is what I'm looking towards getting.

If you're confident with moving down to medium or low, such a PC will probably be fine four years at least. It's generally the graphics card that ages most quickly.

The only concern with that bundle is the $200 uATX (micro ATX) motherboard in a full tower case. uATX mobos are meant for tiny cases, a full tower can fit a better full ATX mobo for $200.

If you have ~$1500 to spend, I'd recommend something more like this:

And then get a second graphics card:

And in ~5 years, get two new graphics cards and you should be set for another ~5 years.
