I'm pretty ignorant on the whole Disc vs. Digital argument, but to me the clear winner is a digital solution like the one steam has.
Are there legitimate reasons for people to not like steam?
Note: Any "You're only renting the game" argument I can understand when talking about someone like EA, but this is Valve. Any game you buy will probably be available for you to play well after you've died.

Some people just dislike the DRM element of Steam, not that it's major or intrusive, some people just don't like that aspect or supporting said product. --- Ooo eee, oo ah ah, ting tang, walla walla bing bang.

The fear of not owning something. You're only buying a license when you purchase digital goods from Steam. Steam also has the right to remove that license whenever they like. Also they fear what's going to happen to GFWL titles in a year. --- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pUAZnjFbOyI http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WbxOaq6_i1Y
It seems (most) people either love it, or despise it like Gabe Newell personally killed their dog.

Every single person who has ever owned a computer and likes games likes Steam and if they say they don't they just don't know they like it.

I'm that way for console games. I'd much rather have the disc over a digital copy. But for my PC, I prefer Steam/Origin. Couldn't tell ya why though. --- I486SX 33MHz |256MB RAM | IBM EGA 64kb | Dell M990 19" CRT | IBM 200watt PSU
