BestBuy Replacement Plan for new Nexus 7 -- should I get 1 year or 2 years?

Why not get the warranty from Square Trade? It costs $75 for 2 years and includes accidental protection.

Good luck getting Squaretrade to cover you, I work for Best Buy and I hear that story like every week. It's the same deal, read the fine print. And no, we don't cover abuse, meaning that you can't just take a hammer to it and expect it to be covered. And the way that it works is that we don't do refurbs anymore, we just give you the value at the time back to use, on a giftcard. So the 2 year makes the most sense, 3 years costs more and you get less value at the time because it's diminished. But at the same time, 1 year is kind of short and the manufacturer will cover you for defects (not accidental though). Basically, I would do the 2 year. Also, make sure you put the geek squad app on there once you get the GSP (that's what we call it), because that locked and found is actually pretty awesome.

Get an accidental warranty somewhere that doesn't offer refurbished replacements (Best Buy will give you a refurb) like Staples. Call them when it accidentally breaks, hopefully around this time next year when the new one is out. They'll give you a credit for what you paid...walk in and pick up the new one.
