I forgot about Mechwarrior series...damn that was fun.

Mechwarrior 2 31st century combat

A remake of that game would create so many amazing multiplayer experiences, but I would settle for a repackage that would run on w7 without the user having to jump through hoops.

Little Big Adventure 1 & 2 (aka Relentless and Twinsen's Odyssey)

I still have the discs and DOSBOX but more people need to play these gems.

Playing old games on Windows 7. Getting them to run always makes my inner geek proud. I have respect for the people at GOG. Their forum is filled with the best gamers the pc community has to give.

Redneck Rampage
Total Annihilation
Blood
Killing Time
Hexen 2
Shadow Warrior
Disciples 1, 2, 3

Mechwarrior is one, Wing Commander

A few of the smaller games or PC versions that were just better. I miss 1998 - 2003 PC gameing.

Battle for Middle Earth 2

Since when is a 2006 game an "old PC game"? Wow.

I say any of the X-Wing series.

7 years is old. Sure it's not a '90's game but 7 years is an old game anyway you slice it.

Except when you slice it as still being part of the same "generation" then, no, it's not.

Nothing needs to be on Steam...if I want an old game I just get it...you all act as if it's not on Steam, it's lost forever and you can't play it.

Except it's really not part of the same generation. PC games =/= console games. The closest we could get to partitioning PC gaming into generations would be by OS, and if we did that we'd actually already be -several- generations removed from BFME2.

If any one thing characterizes the current "generation" of PC gaming, it's the advent of digital distribution services like Steam. Basically, every game from before this golden age of digital downloads is "old," because it's no longer readily available to anyone.
