Can I get some advice on my custom build?

#1Lionheart159Posted 8/27/2013 4:35:26 AM
OK, first off, I have posted a custom build on here before, but financial trouble hit and I was unable to follow through. I decided to try again, but with a slightly different system and plan in mind.

Just wanting some advice on what I currently have (Things to replace/add/subtract)

Any and all help is appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Some of the games I will be playing:

Multiple MMOs (WoW (Maybe), SWTOR, FF XIV)
Online (CoD, Battlefield, Crysis)
Single Player (Witcher series, Elder Scrolls, Fallout, Minecraft)

Before I even look at any of the parts, nice total cost you got there.

Have you considered getting a SSD? Honestly, everything else looks pretty good.

Edit: Oh, also, do you plan on doing sound editing or having a more complicated speaker setup? If not, you can probably get rid of the sound card to save yourself a few bucks.

I'll be honest, the price was total coincidence. I couldn't help but smile when I saw it.

really not going to do much on it but play games, and a SSD was on my mind, but they are really expensive. So i guess i could drop the sound card and add a SSD. Then later down the line, I could get another one if I need it.

Yeah, and it doesn't have to be a huge SSD, just large enough to fit your OS really. If you're really worried about price, you could go as low as a 64gig drive. I'd personally go for 120/128 gig so you can put some of your most demanding games on there. The loading times alone are well worth the price. My heavily modded Skyrim loads up in literally 2 or 3 seconds, and my computer boots from being shutdown to on and ready to run something in about 8. I don't think I could ever go back to a HDD OS again.

Took away the sound card and added a 120gig SSD along with a 1Tb HDD. The price isn't as cool, but oh well.

My notes based on your latest build (post 6):

might as well ge ta 4670K
either get a better cooler (212 evo) or don't bother
mobo is unnecessarily expensive
do you actually need 16GB of RAM?
V series is okay, would be better with a Samsung 840 or whatever
There are cheaper 2GB 7850s
there is no reason to get a wired network adapter
case is fine
extra fan is fine
optical drive is fine
Should just get Win8 tbh (use a 3rd party program to restore start menu if it bothers you)
there is no power supply listed

All in all, it's not very great to be blunt. Anyway, I threw this together. It's actually complete and a better computer in general, for roughly the same cost as the first build:

But the reason i didn't have a power supply on there is because i currently live in germany, and i know that theres a big red flag when internationally shipping a battery or power supply. but if i can do it, ill be more than happy to buy one for half of what i can get here
