Purpose of p2p sharing?

On the legal side of things, what are the benefits to using p2p sharing vs downloading of a browser or client like steam?

I know depending on seeders/leechers you can have really fast downloads, but are there any more upsides?

yes, you dont need a website setup to download every single file you might want, where as on a network like kazaa or DC or whatever, with 100,000 people sharing their harddrives, you could have found basically anything in one place

The only purpose is illegal stuff lol.

I mean, I thought about making some videos and sharing them that way... but youtube (and others) is just so easier. You could use it for pictures, but too many free picture sites out there.

It's really for large files, but 99% of large files are either copy written or more easily shared thru sites that specialize in them.
