Note that I am planning on buying it from Xotic PC and having them replace the OS with Win 7 professional (that is the one with the XP mode, right?).

Speaking of Xotic, is the stuff like copper cooling and better thermal paste worth the money?

Well turns out the specs are wrong, is not an AMD A110, is an AMD A10-5750M, which is a decent processor. Should be fine for most tasks, just not very fast.

But at that price, I would expect something better than "decent".

Hmmm, have any recommendation on what to choose instead?

I didn't see any dedicated gpu in that page (mobile) so basically you're paying for the flashy LEDs. You can get a sager with an i7 and 765m for $1000 (no OS though, so add that to it), I'm sure you could get a 770m+OS and still be in the 1300 range.

Hmm, I can get a Sager NP8235 with Win 7 professional and a blue ray drive (tired of only being able to watch them on my PS3) for $1386.13 after the 3% discount.

i read several reviews on that and all of them concluded that the mediocre cpu will bottleneck that fantastic gpu.

You mean the MSI one in the opening post or the sager in my last post?

Note that XP Mode on Windows 7 will not allow you to run games. It's more for legacy business applications than anything else.

Also in the product details it says it has an AMD 8970M which should be pretty powerful.
