Thinking about building my 1st pc

#13vil_wabbitPosted 8/27/2013 6:36:22 PM
all right, as the title says I'm thinking about building my first pc. I've read the guide here and done a bit of research on the web. I think I have a decent understanding of everything I need, but I guess I wanted to make sure everything will work together anyways, here is what I'm thinking.

Case Corsair 650D
PSU SeaSonic X650
Motherboard ASUS Maximus VI Hero LGA 1150 intel Z87
CPU i7-4770k
Memory Corsair Vengance Pro
GPU ASUS GTX770-DC02 2GD5
Storage 3.5 TB HDD
aftermarket heat sink-TBD
Optical Drive IDK yet

That's it folks, appreciate your input

I say save some money and go with an i5 instead of an i7 unless you plan on doing a lot of video editing and stuff.
Also, for your cpu cooler, I suggest an enermax.

Instead of spending a large part of your budget for premium parts like the 650D, the X650, the MVIH, and the Vengeance Pro, get a GTX 780 and a SSD.

I commend you in trying to stick to only a few manufactures for parts. Get a cheaper Asus motherboard. Get regular Vengeance, or even XMS3 ram. Also, second the i7. Get the i5 if you don't plan on editing or anything. Use the savings to get you a SSD, and possibly, a 780.
