#1nehukogPosted 8/27/2013 7:00:54 PM
so OC'd my haswell to 5.8ghz, and I can't seem to keep the temp below 60 degrees idle. Even with water cooling. any ideas?

it's the bad solder.

I have the same issue with haswell under water. Even though the loop can dissipate the heat just fine, the die heats up because the IHS can't conduct the heat away fast enough. de-lid and your idle temps will go down 15-20C.

Should the idle temps even be that high? I was under the impression that almost all motherboards downclock and undervolt the processor when it's idle. So idle temps should be no different than stock.
