Portal 2 graphics legit?

#1XxTwisted26xXPosted 8/27/2013 8:23:18 PM
We're these screenshots of the game actual in game? Just finished it and I don't think the graphics every looked so... good. Like the textures in this screenshots are very defined and crisp.

In the last picture, with Wheatly, he looks a lot more... rugged looking.

All those screenies happen to be from a good ways away. If one of the screenshots was closer, up to the wall or something, it'd look like, well, a Source game lol. It's basically just the fact that it's farther away, so it looks good.

I assume that pretty much every official screenshot of a game is a bullshot.

Oh, I just use AMD CCC because it comes with the GPU drivers. Why do they decrease visual quality?

It has a few extra features, like "controls like advanced V-Sync control and post-processing based anti-aliasing like SMAA, RadeonPro can help on fine tuning of your games making them look better and also feel better and smoother through the use of Dynamic V-sync Control (DVC) and Dynamic Frame rate Control (DFC). RadeonPro can also help Crossfire users to force multi-GPU utilization in games not supported by the driver, improving your games performance with a few clicks."

Would probably have been better if you actually posted screenshots of your own, rather than just saying it "Looked worse" without any grounds for comparison.

Many games look worse when you actually get in and SEE them, can move around, see how it functions in motion, get close to textures, see how static lighting may actually be, even if you see a nice reflection or shadow in a screenshot...Etc.. Portal 2 was a Source Engine game, as with any Valve game, so it looked alright, but it wasn't setting any graphical standards or feats of technical prowess.

Hell, I ran the game's co-op in Split-screen maxed at 3360x1050 on a 5770 and E8400...

Any static image has potential to look impressive without being given context.
