Dragon's Lair 2001 CD-ROM randomly skipping scenes?

#1j_coatPosted 8/27/2013 10:25:07 PM(edited)
I'm playing it on Windows 7, and am wondering why every time I die, I go to a different scene instead of having to replay the same one again until I get it right like I normally should? EDIT: 2003 CD ROM

I just played Space Ace on CD, and it worked like it was supposed to, but it seems Dragon's Lair just moves you onto the next scene as if you succeeded even if you died.

If the Steam release is anything to go by, there are two modes of play for the games. Home and Arcade versions. In Arcade, you proceed to a different section regardless of whether you succeeded or failed and will have to repeat them later in the game. In Home, you will continue the last scene until you finish it successfully.

For me, it starts me off at the next room no matter which version I'm playing.

EDIT: So for the CD-ROM version, is it supposed to randomize the rooms until only the last one remains, even in Home version, in which case the extra rooms are also added to the rotation?
