My first foray into PC gaming was MMOs. So I got used to kb/m PDQ.

It was hard switching from purely keyboard to KB/M, going from Doom to Duke3D and Half Life. Mostly because moving and turning separately.
I'd think analogue would actually be easier to switch over from,

You can either use your xbox360 controller or PS3 controller on your PC.

yes but I've read that translating certain games such as half life is cumbersome and difficult for controller mapping. I've also heard how good the KB/m setup is and I'm trying to like it.

Is this your first time ever on a computer? Have you never used a mouse before?

It is not really that bad, and it depends on the genre. There are some genre (racing games, flying games, platformers, fighting games) that really benefit from a controller or some form of analog controls. However, for a lot of other genres (RTS, MOBA, MMO, FPS etc.) the mouse and keyboard provides a better experience imho.

Also, there is always the option to use a controller for a casual single player experience if you are into that sort of thing. Personally, other than using a wheel for racers etc. I just like to stick with the mouse and keyboard for pretty much anything. FPS and RTS are some of my favorite genres, and they are considerably less fun for me when I have to play them with a controller.
