As if Windows patches security holes....

Sure there was conficker, but that was a one off scenerio.

Windows never patches security holes.

This is the part where people tell you with all sorts of warped un-logic that Windows 8 doesn't actually force you to restart your computer. Even though it does.

You seem to be the only one doing so.

It's not like they come out at utterly predictable times and you could easily reboot well before the week or two pass and force you to... oh, wait.

While mostly true, there have been a couple times win8 wanted me to restart right away. For whatever reason (likely due to its hibernation-like shutdown procedure), the os requires you to restart for a few updates. I shut down my pc most nights and that just isn't good enough for all updates. It can be a pain but its so infrequent I don't know why people are moaning so loudly.

As far as I know, all updates for a month are cumulative and require only 1 restart in that month, which is after the updates on the second Tuesday of every month. All other updates are downloaded and installed in the background and await the monthly required restart. This is far better than the process was in Windows 7.
