Are powerline adapters a good option?

I really struggle with wifi in my house, I pay for 110mbps and get around 100 wired and 30 tops wirelessly. In my room though, I only get about 10 tops and ping that makes gaming unfeasible. A lot of the time it's much lower than that though. I just found out about these and they sound too good to be true. I was thinking about this:

Does your router have antennas? If it does, make some Windsurfers and put them on it and see what happens. It made a massive difference for me. I went from never having wifi reception on the far end of my house to always having 3-4 out of 5 bars and I've only not had wifi on my phone twice. I have a pretty big house and the router is on one side.

If that's not an option I've been curious about the powerline adapters as well, though I don't need one anymore.

From what I read, they work well if its on the same circuit.

Yeah, that's one thing I'm wondering about. My router and modem are across the house.

Maybe a directional antenna on the router and pc would work better.

10 is plenty for gaming. If your ping is high though, that's a different story.

That's what the windsurfer is. It took me about 20 minutes to make and I already had everything I needed, just some foil, spray adhesive (Probably the only thing you might not have, glue sticks are what he used in the video so just any kind of glue should work), a manila envelope, some scotch tape, and 2 sheets of printer paper. Glue it up, cut it out, tape it together, and plop it on your antenna. My antennas were wider at the bottom so I was able to just make a smaller hole on the top side of the thing that holds it onto the antenna and it sat perfectly.

Let me put it this way: it either works extremely well or it works terribly/not at all. You will figure it out instantly. Not hard to set up or determine. I highly recommend them. Buy it somewhere locally if you can, try it out, and return it if you must. If you have somewhere locally that sells them, have them price match it to Amazon if it is that much of a difference. Best Buy and Fry's price match online.
