Generally speaking, gaming keyboards allow more keys to be pressed at the same time. Cheap keyboards will allow 3 or 4 at once maximum, while gaming keyboards allow more than that for complex games that need it. Some of them also have macro buttons, but I find those pretty useless.

This is my mechanical keyboard...basic, but I love the feel and sound. Had it for a couple of years now.

Someone's never tried a mechanical keyboard, I see. While the price difference is not trivial, it's totally worth it if you type a lot. It is definitely one of the most underrated portion of a PC build.
