If you have a headphone amp, I'd get the DT770. If you don't have an amp, the ATH-M50.

You're aware that they're rather bass-oriented, right? It's not for everyone.

I'm guessing it's for gaming.

As a an audiophile I view "surround" headsets with a bit of biased scorn, so you don't wanna know what I think about that plantronics. I've always 100% believed regular stereo headsets can deliver a locational sound field that will completely satisfy you.

As for the DT770 vs M50, the DT770 became desired for its large amounts of bass. And similarly, the M50 became famous as a headphone suitable for bassheads as well. Honestly, in your shoes I'd just get the M50. For music, the M50 is still recommended in its price range (well, at least last year or so... it's been a while), whereas the DT770's kinda fallen outta vogue (not to say that the M50 is better than the DT770; just speaking in RE to each one's respective price bracket). Although when I was really into this stuff, I do recall the M50 being like $100 instead of $160...

Oh, and if you do get the DT770 I'd get the 250 ohm version. There's kinda a trend with Beyer's, the higher ohm versions are always considered to sound better than the lower ohm versions. I'm not sure if it holds true for the DT770, but this is true for the 880 and 990.

Without clicking the links I'd select the Audio Technicas because of the fact gaming specific headsets generally lack in audio quality, and the AT's are studio monitor headphones made to produce accurate sound for mixing/mastering/recording purposes.

Lots of positive feedback on the Technica brand as well.

You should buy from amazon or an authorized dealer and not get screwed over. I have the a900x and they don;t seem too amazing, maybe im spoiled. Sorry, i dont game with it, but music is okay
Rocked the Sony xb500, beats pro, beats solo, soul by ludacris sl150, a900x, and heard the hifi 400
