SDD Worth it?

No but I used one. I will never own a SSD as they are useless to me. I will never buy one unless I can get a TB one for like 100 bucks. Otherwise I am not going to deal with it as its not worth it.

SSDs are not for storage. You don't need a 1TB SSD. You don't have that many programs.

An SSD is the reason why my six year-old Q6600 system still feels super snappy.

120GB SSD + 4TB and 2TB HDDs = paradise... until I need to buy another 4TB HDD lolol

Good for you. I don't have a use for one. I never shut down my system. My system is always on and running. All the games I play have I never seen anything past 10secs for load times. All the programs I load/run all fine and are almost instant anyways. So Yeah I have no use for one and most likely never will.

I'm confused, are you asking about an SSD or an SDD? You swapped them half a dozen times

Oh and don't listen to the poor people, they're irrelevant

SSDs are really nice luxuries but it's not a necessity. You could think of Air Conditioning as a luxury and not a necessity, that doesn't make it any less nice to have AC. Sure maybe nobody NEEDS an SSD, but it's nice to have. For a laptop I imagine it'd be even nicer to have since it requires less power, and builds up less heat than regular drives.

At the same time, 512GB and 1TB SSDs are expensive, so if you can't spend the cash for the luxury, you're better off not getting one, OR getting a small one and using it for the OS and critical applications.

SSD's aren't even remotely worth it.

I saw my boot time decrease maybe 2 seconds (but Win8 is fast to begin with), and Shogun 2 still takes a good 20-30 seconds to load off the SSD, which is about the same as a 7200RPM HDD.

Not worth it at all.

There a handful of games that are weird like that. I have one (Battle For Middle Earth 2 Expansion) that still loads at the same rate it did on HDD. However, the vast majority of them load pretty much instantly, and once you're playing, the zoning in and out of different areas takes about 1 second instead of 20-30 seconds. I wouldn't base your judgment of SSDs off of one random game that doesn't take advantage of it, since most games and programs certainly do, and load nearly instantly.

You can also use Steam Mover to move already installed games from one drive to another.

Thank you for this. I was about to ask how to do that.
