Is it possible to build a computer for around $300-$350?

Why is it that he can hit a 3rd baseman on a frozen rope from 300 feet away, but he can't hit a 12 foot tall catcher from 60 feet 6 inches away?

Nice! But since his budget was up to 350 would an A6 or even an A8 be feasible? I would try it myself but I'm on a smart phone at work and I really should be working now ;)

You could use Linux (depending on the games his son will play) and go for something like this:

Yeah, it would just depend on what my brother wanted.

Good depends on who is using it. If your brother wants to do anything that require Microsoft Office, I'd recommend you get him something with Windows. My experiences with OpenOffice have been not so good. It's just not worth the hassle when you can use MS Office.

If all he is really doing is using the internet and checking email, a user-friendly Linux (I'm fond of Ubuntu) flavor is totally okay.

That was just over $250 when I posted it. Working in a better processor shouldn't be any trouble at $350, but does the intended use of this computer require the extra expenditure?
