This is a split board - You can return to the Split List for other boards.

So, for those of you who have played Mass Effect for both the 360 and the PC...

Is the PC version enough of an upgrade to re-buy the game? Does it have controller support? The Mass Effect board is dead, or I would have asked there. Thanks.

No controller support. Exact same game but looks a lot better and runs smoother. Not much mod support. So it's up to you if that's worth it.

you can use Pinnacle game profiler but Mass Effect 1 doesn't really work with it so you will be playing on the monitor. There are some Texture improvements you can download from BiowareSocial but nothing game changing.

There are xpadder profiles for it if you want to use the controller. It isn't perfect and no aim assist but it works. The pc version is nice and has a few interesting mods. I would say it is worth the 6 dollars if you like the game and don't own any Xbox dlc already.

Actually the good DLC is free now and the other is pointless.

Mass Effect does have controller support if you tweak the ini file. Makes it work almost exactly like the console version.

As far as the game itself it runs a lot better as long as you have the hardware to run it good in the first place. Texture pop in is non existent and and higher resolution textures are out there for people who want to further mod the game.

Mass Effect on my computer looks10 times better than it did when I played it on the 360.

I never tried ME with a controller, but I always found the mouse controls to work very well. I also paused the game a lot and used the tactical squad power interface thing ( in 2 and 3 ).

Care to run those ini tweaks by me?

I just checked, and it's $15. Still, cheaper though. I'm just not sure I want to open an Origin account.

I just looked and it is $9.49 on Amazon with free Prime shipping, so maybe that's the way to go. Or not...now I'm reading about some awful DRM it has called SecuROM? Do all versions of the game have it, or just the retail disc?

Thanks to everybody for the feedback.
