Why do Japanese companies have a better grasp on the PC market than Ubisoft?

Especially considering Japan barely HAS a PC market? I want to buy Rayman Legends, but I can't support both Ubisoft AND Uplay in good conscience.

I like Uplay.

Uplay isnt bad, its just another DRM. Plus you can unlock stuff for playing the game with their weird point system. Not saying its amazing incentive but it could be worse for sure

Uplay is dreadful. In many games you GAIN features from playing a cracked copy. And on Legends the only thing it provides is leaderboards.

At best it's just unnecessary.

Yes, we're aware you don't like it.

My only complaint about Uplay is that it doesn't just start up and run in the taskbar like origin and Steam. I'm actually using the background I got for playing Blood Dragon and before that I was using one of the Far Cry 3 ones.

Once we perfect building Mechs, I expect there to be a factory in Mexico pumping out a brand call Mechsican. I wanna buy me a Mechsican.

As long as Uplay doesn't require an "always on internet connection" and doesn't restrict how many times I can install the game, then I don't really care that much... it's not as bad as GFWL. It really shouldn't be required to run alongside steam though...

But if you don't like UPlay, don't buy their games. If everyone who doesn't like them doesn't buy their stuff, then eventually they'll get the message. They already backed off their previous stance on requiring an internet connection to play...

Well, yes obviously I don't intend to buy it. And I was a bit harsh on Uplay considering it's not as bad as GFWL, but I'm standing by my statement of it being unnecessary.

Just get the game through Steam and Uplay will be barely noticeable.

Until it updates and you wonder why your game is having to update AFTER you launched it instead of before... That's usually when I think Uplay is bad. If it was just a client that sat in the background I wouldn't notice it much.
