Hope this is the right place to discuss computers.

I'm a bit new to this PC board, also a very big noob. I have come for advice on building a computer.

I have never built a new computer or electronic before. I have no idea where to start but I would like to start somewhere... The goals I am trying to acomplish with my this computer I want are:

Play MineCraft and Dolphin (the GameCube emulator) without any lag
Be able to film HD videos of my GameCube and WiiU games with http://www.amazon.com/Elgato-Capture-PlayStation-Recorder-10025010/dp/B00840353W
the monitor be in full color (because this IBM one I currently have has that blue tint from one of the pins being broke)

My current computer is a white eMachines with no HD anything, and these are the specs:

Rating: 2.0
Processor: AMD Athlon(tm) processor 2650e 1.60 GHz
Installed memory: 2.00 GB (1.75 usable)
System type: 64-bit operating system
Pen and Touch: None

I have already done some research on computer parts before making this topic. Do these look like they are worth it?

I apologize for my intense noobish-ness. I'd be glad to go to college or look up online to learn about computers but I have no idea where to start.

That first link you posted is just a case, but it's not a bad case. The RAM is fine.

Also... You

I like you.

I (think) he knows it's only a case.

Although that other guy thought a $20 screen protector was a laptop....

TC, just so you know, you should plan on spending ~$1000 to play Dolphin at 1080P. My rig plays all games that don't need to use "EFB to RAM" at 1080P. Some games still have the occasional lag.

I don't care about getting dolphin at 1080p. Just having it running without any lag on it's lowest setting would be fine. I thought that computer case was a shell.

Dolphin is pretty much made for intel processors, grab an unlocked i5 and a cooler for sure. If by minecraft you mean FTB definitely grab an unlocked i5 for that as well, I had to oc my 3570k to 4.4 to get a halfway solid 60 fps after setting up some portals and anchors.

Dolphin is pretty demanding, and resolution barely affects performance whatsoever. Twilight Princess (GC) demands an overclocked Intel i5 2500k (quad core) @ 4.4-4.5GHz to push 30fps. Not all games require that much, but it's not easy to run at all. Only in the past year or two has it been feasible to get certain games running, for performance reasons alone.
