Help me find a sound card

#1kemPhReAkPosted 8/31/2013 11:10:50 AM
Specifically, I need a sound card that has 'Optical Audio In'

And it can have optical audio out. Newegg does a poor job in refining searches for those kinds of sound cards. The reason why I want this is to use my PC as my hub for sound. I want to connect a console into it so I can use one gaming headset for both systems.

Also, I'm trying to keep the price <$100. Lots of them are like $150 T_T

Any help is appreciated!

The console war is over, both consoles have gone casual, neither won the war. They both just kind of...gave up.

I find that they tend to sound better, especially if they have an equalizer built into the software. But then again, I have a quality receiver and borderline audiophile speakers (Paradigm) hooked up to my PC so I can hear every little detail. You might not hear the difference with a regular PC speaker setup.

Edit: That card is out of stock, and I'm unable to find another one. In some forum discussions about it, many people said that they no longer manufacture cards with optical input. Maybe you'll get lucky and find one on Ebay.

Make sure to read reviews because a lot, if not all consumer cards can't decode dolby digital or dts. Which means you will only get 2ch audio from consoles using the optical input.
