RUMOR: Windows 9 next year. Windows 10 to be a "cloud" based OS

#1r7gerrabbitPosted 9/1/2013 9:35:56 AM(edited)

Details on Windows 10 were also provided, with claims that the future operating system will be a “cloud OS,” meaning that all of the processing and computing would be done on Microsoft’s servers, and be streamed to your computer, completely eliminating the need for a powerful rig and only requiring the basic bits to run peripherals and such. Windows 10 would essentially just be a new cloud service for Microsoft, on top of Office 365 and the new Xbox Cloud on Xbox One, pushing the company further into the cloud ecosystem.

If true then I hope OpenGL gets popular soon. It will be a cold day in hell before I trust Microsoft with all my data.

Everyone's data would be ripe for NSA picking.

Microsoft is trying really hard to go down the path of bankruptcy aren't they?

Yeah screw that. I'm sure MS will get many fans of the service. I disliked Windows Vista and Windows 8, but there are many people who like those OS's. If Windows 10 does take the "cloud OS" then I want nothing to do with it. I'm so damn tired of the cloud right now.

Windows 10 "Sounds" like a cool idea, but if we still have similar internet to today, your PC would have less lag running under it's own steam.

They'll also probably charge hundreds of dollars a year. I'll stick with what I got, thanks.

Not sure I believe this, if only for one reason. If Aero really is coming back in Windows 9, there's no reason Microsoft wouldn't have put it back into Windows 8.1...or, at the very least, enabled the use of the beta "Aero Lite" that still exists within Windows 8, and it just inaccessible.

They are incredibly arrogant, and yes, I believe they are on that path. I have been reading articles that it is speculated that they won't be in business by 2018 if not sooner.

Good to know Microsoft hasn't learned a thing.

A new Windows so shortly after 8 came out?
Yeah... that's going to piss off people.
