question about genesis classics on steam?

#1szunegaPosted 9/2/2013 1:35:27 AM
I recently got gain ground. And I was wondering. It has a multiplayer option, but are multi player games possible over steam in terms of genesis games? I know i'm probably gonna be made fun of for buying genesis games on steam. But meh.

Yeah. I know you can use emulators. But steam would just be more convenient and I still would like to know if online multiplayer is possible.

Why not test it out by plugging two controllers into your PC and seeing if you can configure them both for both player 1 and 2 on the emulator? (Plugging a PS3 controller via usb should work or a wired 360 controller)

Go into the options on the program (It really is an emulator, in fact the "data files for the Genesis titles have identical rom sizes as actual Genesis roms in the Steam folder)

One of the Golden Axe or Streets of Rage titles should work.

A fan is confident in the game they prefer being able to stand on its own merits.
A fanatic attacks the opposing game showing insecurity in the game they like.

Why not just launch the game and see?

I did launch it...you can do 2 player local. I was wondering if there was some trick or something to playing online.

I'd assume not then, there would definitely be an option if they had made one. I'm pretty sure they're just copy paste ROMs basically, so while you could maybe set up some online server thing, it wouldn't be through Steam and I'm pretty sure nobody made any third party servers or anything for it.

You can only play Genesis games online via unofficial emulation.

Netplay is how you do it, I don't think the Steam version will allow for it.
