Help me round out my new build. (Graphics Card)

#1ValorZraykPosted 9/3/2013 2:49:09 PM
In December I'll spend around $500 to finish up my build. I don't currently have a graphics card, and I'm not really sure what to get. Right now I have two 120GB SSDs (one internal, one external). 240GB of storage won't last, so I'll be getting another SSD, meaning I'll have around $350 for my Graphics card.

My Build:
CPU - i7-4770k

MOBO - ASRock Z87 Extreme3

RAM - 16GB DDR3

Power - 850W Corsair HX850

Storage - Seagate 600 Series 120GB SSD
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820248017
OS - Windows 7 64bit

Again, mainly looking for advice on what graphics chip to buy, but any suggestions on what to use my aprox $500 would be great.

Look at the top cards right now. Then go to Amazon or Newegg and find the top cards for your budget.

Don't make SSD your sole storage devices. Get a 1TB+ mechanical drive. Honestly, 350 for a graphics card, unless you get a good price on a 7970, the graphics card will be the weak point of your build. I would personally get a 780 with that beast you've got there.

Why get another SSD? You'd be better off getting a 2 TB HDD, since even 360 (or 480) GB of storage isn't much.

As for a GPU, if you're waiting until December, ask then. AMD's new cards will most likely be out, so there will be a much different selection to choose from, with different deals available.

As previously stated, there is really no reason for 2 SSDs. 1 SSD for your OS and programs, and 1 HDD for your downloads and media storage is what you want.

In the price range for video cards you're talking about, I'd be looking at either the GTX 770 or the Radeon 7970.
