Help downlading Linux Mint Debian?!

#1MercurysMessagePosted 9/3/2013 2:55:53 PM
Hello, I am trying to create a dual boot on my PC with win8 and LMDE, however quite frankly I am lost as most of the information I am finding online is not relevant or helpful so far.

I downloaded the 32 bit cinnamon vers. from http://www.linuxmint.com/download_lmde.php
and what it gives me are a couple of folders, at about 1.2gb of space. It says DVD drive on the download. I had created a new partition on the hard drive to allow a dual boot scenario, and I burned the download onto the disc. However I have not been able to boot from the disc in the BIOS (i built the PC myself, it is a Biostar motherboard) and I have had no luck in booting or installing the OS.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

How'd you burn it?

ps, pen drive + Universal USB Installer = probably easier

In BIOS, make sure your DVD Drive is listed first in Boot Order/Priority.

What you downloaded should have been an ISO and you should have burned the ISO onto the DVD.
