Is there an easier way to close windows on the taskbar?

By which I mean a simple button press?

I tried Middle Click, I tried Right Click C and Enter, but that seems tedious.

Like a single button? At all possible on Windows 7?

It's useful for Steam, especially when you have the windows set to "Never Combine". (I like it so I can see the name and the icon is larger.)

I have a mouse with a lot of macro keys on the side so I just mapped Alt + F4 to a button and have the command to close a tab mapped to a button too. Pretty handy to just press a single button and close a tab or window immediately
