Made me jump 3 times until I said, "I can't take this anymore, New Game".

Scary, or startling? 2 totally different things.

Outlast really looks like it went for scary. I've seen videos of people playing demos and I actually jumped a few times. It's not even just cheap ass jump scares, it's real built up tension and unleashing hell at the perfect time. Plus it looks really legit when you don't have any weapons or means to fight back. It's not another game where you have an arsenal bigger then Serious Sam's (and just as much ammo) and enemies just do jump scares before you shoot them into pieces.

I watched Cry play the first hour and it looks pretty dull. One of those lame enemy-sees-you-time-to-hide-in-a-dark-corner-for-5-minutes games like Amnesia.

Yeeeaahh. I watched about 40-50 minutes of it and it doesn't look that special. Graphics and first-person animations are lovely but the actual horror element is almost non-present. You hide and sneak past monsters much like in Amnesia. That's decent enough, but I would like something more... sinister, and slow paced.
