You should turn that cpu into an i5.

This. AMD CPUs are no good for BF3 multiplayer.

What is a good price for an i5?

AMD CPUs are decent for BF3 multiplayer, but intel will be better.

Thanks for the replies. This is actually a PC my friend is looking to purchase so he can play titles over the past couple years. I was just using BF3 as an example of sorts. I'll recommend he get an i5 processor when he's ready to upgrade.

Looks good enough, although an i5 core would be more ideal, as stated before. The game should run well enough, although the core is the next thing to upgrade.

A site that I quite like for cpu parts and builds is pcpartpicker.com. Picks cheapest prices from multiple websites, and ensures that everything is compatible (besides the dimensions of the components)

An i5 uses a different socket to the 6300, so you would need a new motherboard to upgrade to an i5 down the line. My suggestion is to just save up a bit and go intel right off the bat.
